Demolition Notice Served on Cinema Site

Following extensive lobbying by the Leader of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, the owners of the former Odeon Cinema site this week issued a Demoliton Notice on the Council. The Notice kicks off the process by which the building can eventually be demolished.  Announcing the notice to a welcoming audience at the Council Meeting on Wednesday of this week (20th February), the Leader said that he hoped that there would be significant improvement to this notorious eyesore within the short term. The Council will now have to serve notice on all of the utility companies who have access to the site, which is expected to take six weeks, and the owners, Bellhouse Joseph, will need to seek tenders for the works. At the same time, it is understood that the owners are removing asbestos from the buildings and carrying out surveys.
