Julian meets IDS

Whilst supporting the election campaign for the return of Boris Johnson as Mayor of London, Julian Stanyer took the opportunity to catch up with Ian Duncan Smith, the Secretary of State for Works and Pensions. Despite his busy schedule, IDS took time out from his ministerial responsibilities to thump home his support for Boris, stating it is vital that he be returned this year, and that Livingstone is firmly rejected. The legislation to dramatically change the face of welfare in this country was only passed two weeks ago after two years of intensive work by the Secretary of State. IDS told Julian that he was now looking forward to implement the measures in the Act but that they were so far reaching that it would be two years before they are fully implemented.
