Langton Allotments Celebrate 100 Years

Langton Green Allotments Association are celebrating their centenary this year. At the recent AGM it was reported that the association, which occupies a site next to the Groombridge Estate at the top of Groombridge Hill, now has 55 plots of which 4 are vacant and available. In previous years, there has been a long waiting list but the dismal summer of 2012 reduced the number of active allotment holders and the association is now looking for new blood. Anyone interested should contact the Treasurer, John Callan, at 01892 740398.

As news of Langton’s centenary was announced, it was revealed that the long-derelict Rusthall Allotments in Nellington Road, opposite the cemetery, are to be brought back into use. The leaseholders are understood to be the Rusthall Working Mens’ Club.
