Plans to develop social rented housing on a green belt site to the rear of Ferbies, Speldhurst, have been put on hold following the withdrawal by the proposed developer. English Rural Housing Association put out the following news release last week.
“English Rural Housing Association have reviewed all of their outstanding projects and in light of changing economic and financial circumstances have decided to postpone their involvement in the local needs housing project in Speldhurst.
In light of the uncertainty and until a review of the project can be held with TWBC a decision has been made to cancel the meeting on Friday evening."
Greg Clark MP had been lined up to chair a meeting on the subject on the Friday evening.
Speldhurst Parish Council issued a notice saying:
"In view of the uncertainty surrounding the project it was decided to cancel the meeting. We are now waiting to hear from TWBC whether they wish to proceed with the project."
Councillor Julian Stanyer, Borough Councillor for Speldhurst & Bidborough Ward, said he was proposing to write to officers at TWBC advising them that in view of widespread opposition to the proposals from the local community, the scheme should be droppped.
